Feel Better Card for my young friend Cameron

Here is a card for the son of a friend who is in and out of the hospital quite a bit. I hope he likes it! I took a lot of pictures to show the embossing - that never photographs well, lol. I have done a card like this colored in also, but I think I prefer this highly detailed stamp uncolored. Less sensory overload. :) The sentiment inside the card is embossed with pretty glittery powder, even though it's hard to tell from the picture.

Happy Mother's Day 2009

Hi all, I wanted to wait until I was sure Mom received this before posting hit. I used the SCUT Susan generously created to make this cool stair step card. :). This is another "busy" card with everything from metal, quilling, layering, fibers, and more! I have come to the conclusion, that I just make "busy" cards. They seem to be enjoyed so I'm just embracing this phase of my creativity. I took lots of pictures so you can see the full effect. I like how this came out, hopefully she will too. :) Click the images to enlarge them. As always, your comments are most welcome. :)

Happy Easter Everyone!

Well, once again I didn't get my Easter cards out in time, so I will just post it here for all of you. If you are a family member and want the actual card even though it's late, just reply to this post (post a comment link is under the body of the post) or email me. :)

First a visit from my Easter Bunny (I know, NO DIGNITY for Gracie! Look at that SULK - lol)

And the card for all of you with love from me!

It's hard to see all the detail and dimension I put into the card, so I took a lot of picture - click the pictures to see larger versions. Some highlight the bling (sparkle), some the embellishments, and some the layers I built up! The "bunny ears," "tie on tail," and "bunny slipper tails" are dimensional puff paint.

I had to add a covered inner lining secured with a tiny latch (photo turn) so you wouldn't see the writing from the front of the card.

It's really hard to see, but there are a lot of layers in the back image. Many of the faces, the mouse and bird, and duck beak are popped out. The "ground" is dimensional puff to resemble gravel. The "Happy Easter" is Glitter embossed and then lavender glaze filled to look a bit like stained glass. There is a close up of the latch above too.

I hope you all DO have a wonderful Easter and enjoy this card!

Chris Durnan's Latest Challenge

Once again I have taken part in Chris Durnan's Challenge to use her SVG files in my own creations. Here is a link to her Blog: http://visualdesignsbychris.blogspot.com/

Here is what I made for the challenge:

1. Congrats Card made with Chris' cut-out stars that I used behind colorful vellum to make a window of sorts that struck me as festive. :)

2. Love to Read Card made with the cut-out phrase "love to read" melded to a cut-out card I made in SCAL. Lots of sparkly color on the letters help them really stand out!

3. Inspire Card - this was made with Chris' ornate embellishment that I attached to a Wild Card (Cricut Cartridge) card that I created. I used dragonfly brads, a copper metal "inspire" oval, flowers, ribbon, and stickles on a wet embossed background to make this card really different from my usual creations.

4. The final card was a Thank You card made out of Chris' 4-frame file that I melded to a card front. I used new inchie stamps I just found to come up with a cute cut-out design. This will be a gift for my favorite ebay seller who found these awesome stamps for me, along with all the other great deals she makes me.

This was fun. I look forward to her next challenge! Thanks Chris!

Mom's Birthday Card . . .

I made this card for Mom's latest birthday (Sorry it's late Mom, I am terrible at getting these things out on time!). I used some new stamps I bought from Pink Persimmon - they have such cute stamps! I only have 3 sets, but I'm sure I'll be getting more at a later date . . .

I made the card with stamps, inks, chalks, embossing, a sizzix die (the branch with leaves), thread, and Stardust Gelly Roll pens. I hope she likes it.

(Sorry the first picture below came out so over saturated - weird effect of lights and background probably).

So once again, happy birthday Mom, and I hope you like the card and gift!

Cricut Cards . . .

I made these cards for friends and family. They were made on my Cricut with SCAL (Sure Cuts A Lot) from Susan's cut files.

For one of my best friends, Michael, who likes toads :)
It was my first pop-up card, the only thing I would do differently next time is use heavier card stock for the foundation:

This one was originally made for a contest/challenge for National Ice Cream Day (It had to include ice cream in the composition) but it ended up going to a good friend. The background of the flipped front is holographic, and I used lots of iridescent chalking for sparkle all over! Wish it photographed better:

This 'Thank You' was made for a wonderful lady named Pat. I blocked the private parts of the card, I know you understand. :) It's hard to see in the pictures but there was a lot of paper piecing on the front.

Close up of inside front cover:

Another hard one to photograph is this Acetate (clear plastic) based card I made as a thank you to the great people at the V.A. for helping me out so much! I know the V.A. gets a bad rap at times, but the people at the V.A. in Oregon are all exceptional people! I have nothing but good things to say about my doctors, administrators, and case workers!

Another big thank you shout out to them!
